I’m in Love

January 12, 2008

I went with C yesterday to go pick up her Mazda3 from the Mazda Service Centre.

And then, I saw the new Mazda 2 (Demio) for real! I had already been eyeing it awhile from various online sources. But there was nothing like seeing it in all its tangible glory.

mazdafront.jpg

C and some other friends mentioned that it was a bit small. I thought it suited my purposes and lifestyle to a T. And no, I didn't think it was very small. Passengers sitting in the back had ample headroom and legroom too.

When I eased myself into the driver's seat, it was as if my body had fused with the machine. In that instant, I knew I absolutely had to get it.

I'm in Love.

Okay, now I'm just waiting to be eligible to get my test date. And yes, it's time (a bit late, I know) to start saving money. Need more funds, how???

See, this is what I'd do if I'm low on funds. Buy a beater (if THAT is even possible in Singapore) which is a 2nd hand car that not even Hades himself wants and drive that until you have the funds to buy the Mazda 2ND HAND as well. Considerably cheaper, and you get the same car. Probably would need tuning, but definitely cheaper than a brand new Mazda.

Scrap that, I'm using that strategy right now. I'm looking at a Geo Metro 2-door hatchback. Awesome gas mileage, but air-conditioning might be screwed up. Then again, who needs a/c in the winter, or in the summer when you can roll the windows down?

Or do what some cab drivers do; attach the small oscillating fan powered by the cigarette lighter outlet. ;)
  18. Prawninator, on January 13th, 2008 at 6:43 pm, deconstructed:
... I forgot there's no summer/winter in Singapore. Die lah die lah...

Ok Cool..haha..though the concert really 'began' at the end when he sang his timeless tunes. Anyway, great job in the TV series. I think it has been a while since TCS has produced such good tv serial. By the way, only get to know u when u acted in the honour and passion.

    p/s JAZZ is a match better car..haha

    Hello Nat

Wow, have been MIA for a while....hope you still remb me...haha

Just bought your CNY dvd (mediacorp)...cool sia...you sang well in chinese...if got autograph session, remb to inform us...will go down to get yours...hehe

who is C? mediacorp artistee? hmmm....cannot say name hah?

Wow, v nice car - DEMIO...cun find the car price on the website....dun think it costs more than $70K?

Anyway, advice is that it is easy to purchase a car (cos now, there are all sorts of installments plan ...and probably you just need a down payment of less than $10K which you shld have as savings/can always get a loan from family/...) the scarying part is the monthly installment and the petrol, taxes, insurance ...but admittingly, a car will bring convenience lah...

Like darren said, maybe you should have a donate buttom in your blog where we can 'contribute' and be 'shareholders'...hahaha....then, we all can take turns to ride your demio and ....hehe....

if you have a family car, then perhaps, may not be nece to get another one...if not, can ask if your family is willing to chip in a bit ....

meanwhile, work hard at your driving ...and pass soonest...let us know your driving date so that we can all 'pray' for you ...

    smile.

rina>> yup there are definitely other colors, including red, blue, gold...etc(in the brochure). but in the showroom that day i only saw four: green, red, black and white. could be that our local agent may not bring in all the colors?

darren>> i DID think of something like that... but i think others will bitch me if i do something like that. besides, i don't like to "owe" people. looks like the old-fashioned savings/investment route is the way to go. and maybe praying for a pay raise. hahaha.

prawninator>> hmm... crossed my mind before too, but then again i realised it's one thing to get a cheap car, and another to NOT compromise on safety standards. i will probably have to ferry my folks around too, so i think getting a new or almost-new car would be a better option.

son>> yeah i did consider the jazz, but it is a v old model (abt 4 yrs already) and they are likely coming out with a newer one later this year. honda also tends to be generally more expensive than other japanese cars. besides, buying a car is also an emotion-influenced decision, hahaha. right now, the mazda 2 really "does it" for me.

sean>> hey hey, i know you probably didn't mean it in a malicious way, but please be mindful of religious sensitivities ya?

cheeky>> of course i still remember you. you are my "self-proclaimed uncle reader" haha. hmmm i didn't know the dvd is out already. think i'll go check it out when i've got the time! C is... C lah. haha. if i wanted/could say, i would have typed out the whole name already...heheheh. the mazda 2 costs between 55k-60k depending on the configuration and/or loan arrangement. unfortunately i don't have a family car, hence the need to scrimp and save for this one :P

    Hi Nat

Just for your info, the new Nisson March - Milk Colour, is also a very cute and nice car. The passengers sitting in the back had ample headroom and legroom also, plus this car is very ecomonical in fuel consumption, ( you know lah, petrol now is very very expensive !!!! I heard US is going to rise the petrol price somemore in the near future, all because of those people fighting in the middle east, we are living in a strange world ) if you are travelling on the expressway, if there is no traffic jam, one litre of petrol - those 98 type can go up to 16km, but it is only available in auto gear and the price is no cheap !!!! But it is really a cute car, very easy for all types of parking, further more the car boot is not small, you can put all your belongings in there. For your kind consideration.
