Mi Adidas
Yesterday was a relatively busy day for me, but I think the absolute highlight of the day was when I went down to the Adidas VIVO store to get my own pair of "mi adidas" shoes!

Basically mi adidas is an Adidas customization project that gives consumers the opportunity to create their own unique footwear to their personal specifications in terms of function, fit and aesthetics.
In other words, they help you create a shoe made by you, for you.
I was first briefed by mi adidas expert, M, on the entire procedure and what the whole concept was about, and then it was time to get started!
First off, we started with measurements. I had to stand in this box where these automated "arms" floated in and took my exact length and breadth of both feet, to like point-dunno-how-many decimal points. Yes it's that precise.
After which, I had to run and leave an imprint on a computerised pad, where it will capture various details, such as pressure, angle, etc. at a rate of more than 300 frames per second. Cool, huh? From here, they can analyse what kind of support would be good for you, depending on your arch-type, whether you are flat-footed, and your running style.
M then looked up from his console and said, "From your running style, it looks like you have some kind of knee problem, am I right?"
I was like, "Whoa, how you know?" I was half-expecting him to be able to tell me what I ate for lunch! Haha. Impressive.
The next part was the coolest bit, where I was able to customise my shoe based on whichever model previously selected. From the base, netting-type, lace color, stripes, stitching, sole... the list was endless, and it was lots of fun. And of course, you can even have the option to have your name (or anything else, really) stitched in at the side. How's that for customisation! Love it.
Because no two feet are alike (yes, there are size variations between a person's left and right feet), we proceeded to do a final fitting to get the perfect fit, whether to increase the length or breadth for added fit and comfort. There's even a treadmill to test it out more accurately, whether the toes "knock", the sides "bite" or if your feet slips within the shoe.
And that was it! Whole process took about 40 mins (longer if you're fussy about your customisation). And now, I wait with eager anticipation for my very own pair of mi adidas!
4 weeks seems like such a long time though... But hey, good things come to those who wait ;)
Thanks E and D for your help! Keep rockin' man! -big grin-

September 1st, 2007 at 5:13 pm Heya guys,
It won't be so soon till I get my shoes, prob about 4 weeks' time actually. Price-wise it varies depending on the model you choose and other options which you may wanna put in.
I think generally, it should cost about 300-ish to 400-ish. I know the price seems steep, but your feet are one of the hardest working parts of the body, so i think it's worth paying a bit more for the comfort and of course, the customisation ;)
