Just like all babies taking their first few steps, they stumble, trip and fall sometimes.

This is what happened:

Me: (Dials the already-memorised number) Hello?

CKT: Oh, hello! (and I can imagine it accompanied with her usual SMS smiley :), imaginary of course, since how on earth is a smiley supposed to sound like?)

Me: So what you doing now?

CKT: Erm.. I'm actually on the phone with my friend.

Me: (Damnit damnit damnit. So suay!) Oh, no worries. Then I don't disturb you la!

CKT: Haha. Okay, I'll call you after talking to my friend la, but dunno whether you'll be asleep already.

Me: (Inside I went, "YES!" but opted to play it cool instead) Sure! Oh, but don't call my housephone, call my handphone instead ya?

CKT: Haha okay. (Again, the imaginary smiley.)

Me: (Puts down phone, feeling a little dumb.)
TIMECHECK: about 11.30pm

And so I waited.

And waited.

During the waiting process, N messages me. An extract from one of the messages:

N: U waitn 4 her cal? Why dun u cal her instd? She cn fal aslp n msg me 'sory bla3 cos i fel aslp' e nxt mrnin.

Me: Nvm la, she's prob still on the phone. I'll wait.

N: Well Gd luck!!

And so I waited.

And waited.

And waited.

TIMECHECK: 2.09 am

I msged: "Hey CKT, guess you're still on the phone or maybe fell asleep already. Rest well, goodnight!"

And I went to sleep.

TIMECHECK: 9.11 am

*Beep beep, beep beep* Ah ha! An SMS!

Me: (fumbles clumsily for the phone)

CKT: hello morning..sorry i put down the phone at around twelve i think but i was super tired and fell asleep..anyway thanks ya? :)

Me: (*Guah Guah Guaaaaaaaah........*)

Haha. Anyway, this isn't surprising. This is what happened when her best friend (let's call her J) had a sleepover at her place:

J: Bla bla bla...

CKT: Haha. Bla bla bla...

J: Oh, is it? Bla bla bla...

CKT: Ya! Bla bla bla...

J: Bla bla bla... So how?

CKT: (silence)

J: Huh? How?

CKT: (silence)

J: OEI!

CKT: *snore* *snort* *snore*

J: (Basket! She fell asleep on me!)

And that is Ms CKT for you.

So, this baby picks himself up and takes another step. He calls her and they chat on the phone a bit, make some arrangements, etc. It's nice to hear her voice at the start of the day :)

The baby didn't fall down. It's a beautiful day!
